Protogen Band privacy and terms

Updated September 10, 2026

1. What Protogen Band Is

Protogen Band is a wellness coaching platform operated by Protogen, Inc., a Delaware C Corporation. It pairs you with a squad of companions and a weekly rotation of behavior quests, using the Apple Health data you choose to sync as read-only context for your progress. Protogen Band is not a medical service and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. All content is for general wellness purposes only. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making changes to your health routine.

2. Data We Collect

3. How We Use Your Data

3a. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your personal data on the following legal bases under GDPR Article 6 and Article 9:

Data Legal Basis
Account information (email, password, sign-in identifier) Performance of contract — necessary to provide the service
Profile data (date of birth, sex, height, weight) Performance of contract — necessary to personalize your wellness quests
Quest and progress data Performance of contract
Usage data (timestamps, logs) Legitimate interests — maintaining service quality and security
Apple Health summaries and Fitness data Explicit consent (GDPR Art. 9(2)(a)) — you choose whether to grant Health access in the iOS app
Notification settings Consent — scheduling opt-in local reminders on your device

You can stop future Apple Health synchronization at any time by disconnecting Apple Health in the app or revoking Health access in iOS Settings. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal. For any consent question, contact privacy@protogen.life .

4. Data Storage and Security

Apple and Google process authentication when you choose their sign-in options. Band requests email and basic profile access from Google and retains your sign-in identifier and verified email. The Google Sign-In SDK has separate disclosures for contact information (including name, email and phone number), user and device identifiers, coarse location, usage data and other data, for functionality and analytics. Google describes identifiers used for sign-in grants and IP-derived general location used for fraud prevention in its sign-in privacy disclosure. These provider disclosures do not mean Band stores all those fields in your account. The app also requests fonts from Google Fonts. Google processing is described in its privacy policy.

In the event of a personal data breach affecting your health data, we will notify you without undue delay and no later than 72 hours after becoming aware of the breach. Notification will be sent to the email address on your account and will describe: the nature of the breach, the data affected, the likely consequences, and the measures taken or proposed to address it. Where required by the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule, we will also notify the FTC within 60 calendar days of discovery.

5. Data Retention

Account and profile data is retained while your account exists. Quest records are scheduled for deletion 30 days after expiry, and Health sync diagnostic records 30 days after their start time. Previously synced Health summaries remain until account deletion. You may request account deletion — this permanently removes your account and all associated data (profile, quest history and preferences, companion progress, Apple Health summaries and sync history, and notification settings) from active systems. Signed-in users can delete their account in Profile > Delete Account. Automated backups expire after seven days. Analytics deletion is retried during outages; deleted accounts are excluded from reports once the deletion request is recorded, and stored events are removed by scheduled cleanup.

6. Your Rights

7. Service Updates

Protogen Band may improve and update the platform over time. By creating an account, you acknowledge that:

8. Tracking and Sale of Data

We collect first-party product analytics in a Band-specific dataset using shared company infrastructure. Analytics excludes email addresses, profile answers, raw Health readings, health scores, and free text. Event data is retained for up to 365 days and is included in account deletion. A minimal deleted-account identifier is retained to prevent delayed event retries from restoring deleted analytics; it contains no email or health data. We do not sell your personal data. We do not use App Tracking Transparency tracking, and we do not combine data from Protogen Band with third-party app or website data for cross-app advertising.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this document as the platform evolves. Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Users located in the EU retain any mandatory rights to bring a claim before their local courts or supervisory authority where applicable.

11. Limitation of Liability

Protogen Band is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

Nothing in this section limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or other liabilities that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without notice.

13. Intellectual Property

The Protogen Band platform, including its design, artwork, and software, is owned by Protogen, Inc. You retain ownership of the personal and health data you provide.

14. Account Termination

We may suspend or permanently terminate your account if:

In the event of termination, we will notify you by email and your data deletion rights under Section 6 remain in effect.
